Reflection Questions: By nature, am I more like Mary or Martha? What is it about pausing and breathing before God that is so difficult for me? What can I do to take more time to simply “be” in the presence of God? What is most important in my life? What needs to be? Am I breathing the way God intends? Why or why not?
Reflection Questions: Do I believe that God designed me to breathe? Why or why not? If not, what most steals my breath? What keeps me from experiencing God’s breath and Holy Spirit in my life? With God’s help am I willing to blow those barriers out of my life? Am I willing to truly embrace the yoke of Christ? What needs to happen in my life so I can begin to breathe? Am I willing to rely on God’s breath rather than my own?
Reflection Questions: Where are you out of breath? Where are you afraid? Enslaved? Where do you need something different? To trust? Where do you need some breathing room? Are we willing to honestly name it? Is it in our schedule? Time? Money? Are we willing to talk to someone about it this week? Make it a matter of prayer?
Prayer: Lord, this day give me the courage, the trust, and the ability to breathe where I am most afraid. Amen.
Reflection Questions: Which master do I serve? Jesus or finances? Am I willing to do whatever it takes to create more breathing room in my financial life? Am I willing to pursue quality of life over a standard of living?
Prayer: Lord, help me to take whatever steps I need to in order to create breathing room in my finances.
Reflection Questions: Are there areas in your life where are you running around like a pagan? Are you anxiously worrying about your needs? Will you confess your lack of faith and trust in God’s provision? Where in your life do you need to make plans instead of fretting about problems? Will you ask Jesus to meet you where you are and look to see Him show up? How will you slow down and live in the moment? Will you commit to living in God’s time, living one day at a time?
Reflection Questions: When is the last time you witnessed God do something amazing? If God has become ordinary, you may have spiritual asthma. Do you need to slow down so you have time to breathe in the breath of God? Do you need to practice spiritual disciplines like worship, Bible Study, prayer, and giving so that you can receive God’s breath? Do you need to remember that God has already broken down the barriers so that YOU can experience life to the full?
Reflection Questions: Read Psalm 90:12 and pray that we may gain God’s wisdom. Ask yourself:
- What do I need to add that is not in my life?
- What do I need to remove completely?
- What needs “turned up” more of in my life? What do I need to focus on more?
- What needs “turned down” in my life? What needs to occur/happen less often?
With God’s perspective, the HOW of “How to breathe in life” will come.
